Random Act of Kindness Calender

 My Reflection 

In room nineteen we have been learning to make an advent calendar but instead of having chocolate in the calendar we have random acts of kindness.  I found it quite tricky to think of different ideas for my calendar.  Next time I would like to make a real advent calendar with chocolate in it.

Walt : organise our poetry into verses

I was able to have 4 sentences in every verse.
Next time I need to brainstorm my ideas better and include some of these words so that I can use my brainstorm to help me with my writing.

Maths Evidence Term 4

 My Reflection 

Walt : calculate the perimeter and area of shapes.

I was able to find area by multiplying the length and width of the shapes.

Next time I will calculate the perimeter and area of different shapes.

My Youthtown Certificate

 My Reflection 

Last term Room 19 has been participating in a sports group that comes to Elm Park every week called Youthtown.  After about ten whole lessons on a couple different sports like basketball and hockey, we had finished Youthtown for the term and everyone in the class had received a certificate for participation.  I enjoyed Youthtown last term and next time I hope that I can learn different sports like netball and soccer.

Room 19 Holiday Padlet

This morning in room 19 we used a website called Padlet so we could share what we had done in the holidays and we also had to use emotive words to describe how we felt.  I enjoyed using Padlet and I hope I can use it again in the future.

My Thank You Acrostic Poem

Walt: write a thank you acrostic poem.

I was able to make sure my poem made sense because I used topic vocabulary to help me.

I found it tricky to come up with ideas for 2016.

Next time I think I could do an acrostic poem about a different topic.

We were learning to locate select and evaluate text for specific information.

I was able to work well enough in my group that I was able to finish the challenge.

Next time I would like to do this challenge with some other activities.

Hoshino Gakuen Primary School Visit

Last week (on Thursday) we had a few students from Hoshino Gakuen Primary School which is in Japan.  In the morning block we had a bunch of different rotations and one of them was trying on a Komino.  Here is a photo of me trying on a Komino.

Maths Evidence - Term 3

 My Reflection 

Walt: solve subtraction problems using PVP (Place value partitioning)

I was able to solve this problem using PVP.

I found it quite easy to use PVP because I already know how to.

Next time I want to use PVP on a different maths equation.

Bike Skills

 My Reflection 

Walt: go down the stairs on a bike.

I was very proud of myself when I got to the bottom of the stairs because I have never done this before.

At first I was a little bit nervous but I did it in the end.

Next time I want to go down longer stairs.

My Letter to Mrs Plowright

 My Reflection 

Walt : use persuasive words to persuade Mrs Plowright to keep the school holidays.

I was able to use a lot of persuasive words in my piece of writing.

I found it quite tricky to come up with some reasons why we should keep the school holidays.

Next time I want to write another piece of persuasive writing.

Stop Swearing!!

 My Reflection 

Walt: use persuasive words and writing to create a speech.

I was able to use lots of words that related to the topic of my speech.

I found it quite tricky to replace the word reason because I used it quite a lot when I first started my speech.

Next time I will write a speech about a different topic.

I was able to locate relevant information or ideas in the story "Porridge".

I found it quite easy to get the answers because I had the text to help me.

Shelter and Sleep iMovie

 My Reflection 

Walt : Identify what humans need to survive.

In room 19 we have been researching the basic needs that humans need for survival.  We used websites to find this information and then we created an imovie to explain this information to the class.

I was able to contribute ideas and information in my group when we were researching the basic needs for survival.

In my group I think I co-operated really well so that everyone had a chance speaking and sharing.

I was able to identify character traits for a particular using evidence from the text.

My next step would be to use the character traits and evidence to find the purpose of a character in a text.

Maths Evidence

Walt : find fractions of sets by using multiplication and division eg. ⅓ of 21 is 7.

Question: Jane has 30 balloons and is sharing them with her friends Kelly and Sofia. Kelly gets 1/6 of 30 balloons, Sofia gets 3/6 of 30 and Jane gets the rest of the balloons that are left. How many balloons does each friend get?


My Reflection

We have been learning to find fractions of a set by using our multiplication and division facts.

I understood that I needed to divide the amount in the set by the denominator eg. 21 divided by 7 is 3. I found writing my own question quite difficult because I have not wrote my own fractions question before.

Next time I will come up with more difficult questions to answer.

Zentangle Art

In term one and term two we have been focussing on zentangle art.  We first had to practice different types of zentangle patterns.  Next we had to chose and sketch an animal for our art.  Finally we had to put our patterns and animals onto a piece of A3 paper then colour our patterns.

I found it tricky to think of what animal to do because at first I was going to do one animal and then I changed it to a different animal until I finally made my decision.  I also found it quite tricky to think of different patterns because I was trying to think  of different unique patterns.

Now that I know how to do zentangle I will use it to decorate other pieces of my work like poems or other art.

Autumn Personification Poem

My Reflection

In writing this term I have been focusing on using interesting vocabulary to make my writing appealing to the reader.

I was able to use personification in my poem.  I found it quite tricky to find different objects to personify for example I kept repeating leaf.  Also I found it easy to personify some objects because before we started writing we went out on an autumn walk to get some ideas.
Now that I know about personification I will use it in other pieces of writing. Over all I have really enjoyed learning about personification.

We have been learning about emotive words.  I found it tricky to find some emotive words beginning with 'F'.  Next time I will write emotive words for a different letter.

We have been learning to write a diary entry to make someone feel they are there.  I found it easy to add some interesting words into my story.  Next time I will write a diary entry on another event.

Basic Facts

October Reflection:
Yay!!!!!!  I got 100 again!  I am very happy with myself because this is the 4th time I got 100 percent, I don't think I need to practice any of the questions on the test because I got them all right.  Next time I will try complete all the questions in under five minutes.

September Reflection:
I am a little bit disappointed because I went down one.  I think I should practice the question I got wrong so I don't get it wrong again.  Next time I will try get 100 percent.

August Reflection:
I am very pleased with my score because I got 100 again!!!  I don't think I need to practice any of the questions.  Next time I need to try complete all the questions in under four minutes and thirty seconds.

July Reflection:
I am very pleased with my score because I got 100!!!!  I don't really need to practice any questions but I do need to try finish all the questions in under five minutes.  Next time I need to get the same score.

June Reflection:
I am happy with my score because I was one away from 100.  I need to practice the question I got wrong so I won't get it wrong next time.  Next time I will try get 100.

May Reflection:
I am extremely proud of my score because I got one hundred!!  I think that divided by fours and divided by sevens slow me down so I think I need to practice those ones.  Next time I will try get the same score again.

April Reflection:
I am pleased with my score, even though I got a lower score.  I think the reason I got a lower score is because I struggled with the harder ones.

March Reflection:
I  am happy with my score this month and next time I think I need to work on my eight times tables and my seven times tables.

A-Z Four Word Poem

My Reflection

We were learning to use interesting adjectives, verbs, nouns and adverbs to write a four word poem for each letter of the alphabet.

I found some of the letters quite tricky such as x,u and v.  I found letters like a,e,s and p quite easy because I had thought of the ideas before I got to the letters.  In the end I ended up using google to help me with some of the letters.

Next time I will write four word poems about a subject.

I was able to round my numbers really well because I find rounding quite easy.

I found it tricky to chose what I have enjoyed this term because everything is so fun!

Reading Friends

My Reflection

We have been reading the story “Friends” by Joy Cowley.    Writing questions and asking questions are important because they help me understand what I am reading better.  

I was able to write questions because I used detail when I wrote my questions, like instead of they I used Snake and Lizard.

Next time I will try to right questions like on my own and author an me questions.

Room 6 Buddies

My Reflection

Room 6 is our buddy class for 2016.  Every week we have been meeting our buddies and have shared stories with them, had a shared lunch under the tree and we found out some secret information about them and designed some bookmarks to give them.

I really enjoy visiting my buddy because she always hugs me when we see each other and she is ADORABLE!!!

My buddy is amazing and she LOVES hugs. My buddy is kind and she loves stories. I love my buddy and I can't wait to see her again.

All About Me Kenning's Poem

My Reflection

I have written a Kenning's Poem about me so that others around the class will get to know me.  We had to use words that describe only ourselves.

I was able to use quirky year 6 words.  I was also able to follow the structure correctly.

Next time I will re-craft my writing because I can add more interesting vocabulary.
